Children's books are often written, not just to entertain, but to teach wise life lessons that are relevant no matter what age you are. This is what the author has aimed to do with her children's stories, albeit subtly. They are positive, wholesome and educative.

The first two books in the series of stories about the adventures of Perry, a resourceful pygmy-possum, and his friend Perky, an adventurous quokka, (plus the combined version of these two books) have been beautifully illustrated in watercolours by acclaimed artist, Emma Stuart. See samples of the illustrations below. The first is from Book 1 Nobody's Friend (But that's not where it ends!) and the second is from Book 2 Perry and Perky - The Adventures Continue.

Audio: The following is an audio narration by Deryn Oliver of the first of the five stories in Nobody's Friend (But that's not where it ends!). It has been described as 'a lovely story' and 'a beautifully written piece'.

The third book in the series is titled Perry and Perky on a Mission. It's a storybook with picture puzzles to solve and colour. Diane Anchen is known internationally for her amazing picture puzzles in many languages, and the cover was illustrated by graphic artist, Wally Anchen.

About me: I'm a teacher with a Master of Education degree, and I've tutored many students in maths and English after school hours because I'm passionate about helping children to improve their school work and to improve their attitude towards it and themselves.

Prior to writing children's stories, most of the writing I had done was related to my studies and work as a teacher. I did enter two caption writing competitions and won both, and while this wasn't story writing, it is evidence that I can be clear, concise and humorous.
